I am still doing the job interview thing so today I am going to talk about interviews. I dont know if I have mentioned this round of interviews before but if I have then so be it.
When I was living in the townhouse in Richmond my nextdoor neighbours decided they needed a new flatmate. The only problem was the week they put the ad in, they all had reasons to disappear. The interviews were left up to myself and the only other guy Nick.
They day was pretty much a nightmare with people coming in at half hour interviews as arranged. Some of the weirdest people you can imagine so half way through we started drinking. Obviously not a great idea!
We had been joking around about how we were going to test people earlier and had come up with two really stupid ideas, neither we really intended to use until we started drinking.
The first was to get a person to draw what moving in the house meant to them on a big piece of paper. When we asked this weird looking old man who turned up in a tshirt and tiny shorts (the clothes were older than me) combo to draw the picture he just sat there staring at us blankly. Didnt look like he would work out.
Next we had joked about locking them all in a tiny room, setting the house on fire and the first one to get out and put the fire out got the spare room. Only after a few drinks it was a bit hard for Nick to explain this to the potential female flatmate sitting in front of us.
He looked at her and just explained "we wer egoing to get all of the people who applied, lock you in a room and set you on fire". he then burst out laughing and couldnt stop, leading her to think that we were actually psychotic bastards looking to kill potential flatmates. No luck with her either.
Next Nick started to use the session as a bit of a pick up joint. When a young kiwi backpacking nurse turned up he moved in. Although knocking her back for the room itself he did have a few dates with her afterwards.
The person who got the room wasthe last one of the day. She walked in and we had already given up. She seemed nice and Nick fancied her so it was a done deal. The room was hers. She moved out not much later and next time I wasnt invited into the intrviewing procedure.
Also on a weird note, the man we asked to draw the picture rang about four times afterwards chasing after the room and wanting to know if we made a decision. he even tried cracking onto the girls. Sorry sir but your BO was beyond control and I dont think you wore your best holey Tshirt..
As for the rest of you.. more interviews today and tomorrow for me.
Keep Smiling
Jason
