I have been doing a lot of flat hunting lately although not for myself. Heidi is finally making the move from the country down to the big smoke so it is all very exciting. Even found one last weekend that wasnt cockroach infested, dirty and smelly so keep your fingers crossed for her.
There is something positively voyueristic about looking through apartments and things. Especially when they havent been cleaned. People are disgusting, how on Earth can you get cockroaches two inches deep in your kitchen sink?
To satisfy your voyeur here are the places I have lived since getting to Melbourne.
- West Heidelberg. What the hell? when you first move to a new city you sort of take pot luck in choice of suburbs, I chose the slum. Nice work indeed. Lasted two weeks.
- Ivanhoe - One bedroom flat which was beautiful and spacious and 180 bucks a week. You could buy a house in Perth for that money!
- Rosanna - Hello 70s shag pile carpet. The whole place felt like I had been using LSD and tripped my way back 30 years to before I was born.
- Donvale - Shared a house with four other people including the crazy greek man who owned the place. You try listening to a Greek man go on and on for hours about how jehovahs witnesses stole his family. Fun fun fun.
- Richmond - Hello three bedrooms, two storeys of brand new townhouse. hello parties, drinking and living with two of my best friends. Lived there for two years until it all went sour.
- Richmond - Ahh, one bedroom flat in cool suburb, just a perfect fit. Cooking for one became fun and freedom to walk around naked had never been more brilliant.
- Australia - living in a van could not have been any more fun and stayed in way too many towns to mention.
- Hawthorn - Just living in a bedsit and starting to look again for something perfect. Brunswick looks brilliant and am loving the feel of Sydney road.
So that is me. If I did all the places in my whole life the list would go on forever but as much as I hate moving, staying in one place is also not much fun. Cant wait to move again now.
Keep Smiling
Jason
