Every now and then I go on a political rant and today is the day I just cant hold back anymore.

The opposition leader over here in Australia has announced that if he wins the next election he will pull thr toops out of Iraq. This is apparently a controversial comment and has raised the ire of everyone from the prime minister to US ambassador Tom Schieffer who has said

"there are over 40 nations in Iraq right now trying to stabalise the situation, If people were to withdraw their support from that action I think it could have very serious consequences."

The only serious consequence it would have is that the government would be doing what they are exlected to do. When you are put into the position of prime minister of Australia you are not given the most powerful job in the country, you are given the least powerful job. Everyone you cross is your boss, every single Australian is your manager. And guess what, the majority never wanted the war in the first place.

Now you insult our intelligence and tell us that joining the war in Iraq hasnt made us any more of a target for terrorists. Excuse me if I dodge public transport the weeks before the next election and stay out of tall buildings.

The WMD never existed and the war was illegal. Sure Saddamn was an evil man but guess what, he was just as evil during the first gulf war and it didnt seem to matter than, oil was flowing freely again so the forces left peacefully. Want to know why we dont trust the war?? Because it wasnt justified. You hadnt even fixed up Afghanistan after bombing the shit out of it.

If mr Schieffer is worried about being the last nation left in Iraq, then my message to him would be a short sharp "I dont give a fuck". Guerilla activity still going on? Saddamn told you that would happen, I would have thought you would have planned for it. Not all Iraqis seem to be welcoming the forces as you though? Maybe it is because you killed so many oftheir friends, neighbours and family with your "shock and awe". The only shock and awe I have witnessed is at the level of our leaders intelligence and ignorance.

Our nation now has a reason to live with fear which we never had before the previous government and it is something that disappoints me no end. Thanks for nothing.
