Due to a promotion at work recently (in no small part due to my great attitude I am sure) I now sit out the front. In the death seat as we like to call it in banking. The seat right next to those who have to queue up to see a teller.
Is nothing like having 15 people all wanting to kill you at the same time to make you feel fabulous. Also gets you into the habit of avoiding eye contact which just makes me look a little creepy.. umm.. a little creepier.
Anyway around my desk is all wooden floorboards which is ace as I am on a chair with wheels. When no one is around I can scoot and spin to my hearts content. Fabulous fun although also a little dangerous.
You see today we had a pretty big queue. I was looking at the ground and avoiding looking at all those around me. I headed towards my seat skirting along the edge of the death stares and people wanting to hurt me.
As I got there I went to sit down but my foot connected with one of the legs of my chair and sent it rolling across the floor. That would have been fine except I was too far into the sitting motion to be able to stop. Gravity had taken hold.
I let out a slight yelp, not the manliest of noises I can assure you but just enough to make sure everyone in the place turned around to see what was happening.
From there on it was slow motion. I could see it all unravelling and there was nothing I could do about it. I couldnt get a hand down, IO had no way of regaining balance. I just had to accept my fate.
I bounced at least three times on my arse as I skidded along the floor. Doesnt take much to say that it was maybe the happiest bank queue in the world around me today as I scraped what was left of my dignity from the floor and fetched my chair.
Another exciting day of banking.
Keep Smiling
Jason
