You may need to get used to these entries at the moment because this is one of the most frustrating things going on in my life right now. House hunting. Whilst we have been renting it has been easy. You know if you get a lemon you can trade it in when your lease runs out and everything is ok. If something breaks you call the landlord and everything gets fixed.
Right now we are looking to buy a house. We are looking in Frankston and for those not familiar with Frankston I should probably explain. It is the suburb hopefully on the way up. It has everything going for it, right on the coast, nice beaches and then there is the beach. The thing holding it back right now is the people that live there. Sounds harsh but also unfortunately true. Things are slowly changing though.
We started off just wanted a brick house on a little bit of land big enough to plant some of our own food and in need of a little renovation so we can do some of the work ourselves and put our touch to the place. We have not gotten to the stage where we would settle for a tent on a piece of concrete.
Some of the agents we have met have been beyong sleaze. There is Mark who does his best not to discuss the property but focuses entirely on how close to the cinema you are and how many parks are in the vicinity not to mention his love of buses. Then there is Chris who cut me off for not having a mobile phone to contact me on. I lost it and dont want to replace it because life is simpler without the annoying little piece of plastic ringing all the time.
We found one nice agent who also happened by coincidence to be selling the house we have most liked. A weatherboard three bedroom place with two bathrooms and all freshly renovated. I loved it for the pool and Heidi loved it for a fully enclosed outdoor entertaining area. We however didnt like the fact it was one hundred thousand dollars more than we are willing to spend.
All of this is made more complicated by the fact the house we are living in right now is on the market. So we dont know how long we will be able to live here for. Luckily the woman who owns it is asking way more than its worth and no one has taken a serious interest. Can only be so long though until someone stupid buys it and we are homeless.
By the time this is all finished I will be happy to never see another fake tanned, toothy smiling real estate agent for the rest of my life.
Keep Smiling
Jason
