Heidi is still enjoying the sights of India. I had no urge to go but now I have found out they will be spending the last week working at one of the orphanages helping out. What an amazing and priveleged way to spend a week of your time.
While she is away I get to catch up with lots of my friends. Not that Heidi ever stops me but my friends tend to only invite me out while she is away and I am a bit lazy about arranging stuff while she is here. On Saturday I caught up with Leanne. We had breakfast at Grandma Funks in Richmond.
Somehow we got talking about tragic stuff and I mentioned a guy who used to bank with me at the first branch I managed. He had suffered from debilitating headaches for months. The sort of migraines where you are bedridden and vomitting. He eventually at the urging of his wife went and got them checked out and was told he had one week to live.
What the hell would you do with that information. He went to work. Loved being a butcher so he went back to work like it never happened. He filled us in on the story when he came in to do the banking. We never saw him again after that day. Someone told us his wife convinced him to spend the time at home and at the hospital.
So we started discussing what we would do. I have decided you would want a living funeral. You know where people say really nice stuff about you but you actually get to hear it. I might assassinate someone evil as well but I will keep that a secret. Then there is the drug habit. All those things I never tried for fear of dying would no longer be off limits.
I worked with a woman in Perth who had a terminal illness and was given 10 years to live, that is equally as useless. I would hate to have a deadline like that. 10 years means you still have to work, you still have to do every day normal things and just wait it out. I would rather not know.
Wow, what a macabre posting. Time to go and be happy with everthing I have.
Keep Smiling
Jason
