I have some wierd habits. Little quirks if you will. At work I am forever throwing my keys around and trying to catch them in my pocket or land them on my desk from a distance without them sliding off the other side.
For those who are still catching up I work in banking which means I have a giant keyring loaded with all sorts of weird arsed keys. It is pretty heavy which makes it all more fun. Today I was sitting in my chair leaning back and throwing the keys in the air trying to see how close to the ceiling I could get without actually hitting it. I am you see easily amused.
The last throw thundered into the cieling and then for no good reason at all I decided to header them like a soccer player back onto my desk. Before they even hit I knew it was a bad idea but I didnt have time to stop or move. I now have a bruise right on the top of my head. I am officially an idiot. I do stuff like that all the time.
It started when I was four years old and my Dad was leaning on the hand rail of a bridge looking over a creek. Looked pretty cool I thought so went to do it myself except I was only four and didnt reach the rail, I instead tumbled through and feel into the three inch deep creek, luckily my fall was broken by broken bottles and river rocks. Hello skull fracture.
Or the time I was showing off my jumping off the ten metre board at Beattie Park swimming pool in Perth. Trying to prove how cool I was too all my assembled friends and fellow 14 year olds. I of course forgot the golden rule of feet first jumping. CLOSE YOUR LEGS, sitting at the bottom of a five metre deep pool after being hit by a rush of water so fast you could taste your own testicles is not a happy experience. I would have been happy to stay there and die but then I wouldnt have looked as cool to everyone watching. I think it took a week for my voice to go back to normal.
So hurting myself is unfortunately just par for the course. I had thought however at 31 I would have learned my lesson. Unfortunately it would appear not.
Keep Smiling
Jason
